Proudly present:

"Petticoat (1890 - 1910) Workshop"
with Instructor Bobbie Kalben

The petticoat pattern is from the book Period Costume for Stage & Screen: Patterns for Women's Dress 1800 – 1909 by Jean Hunnisett, so you will not need to purchase a commercial pattern.

The supplies fee is $10, which will cover the handouts and a full size pattern.  All you need to bring is pencil and paper for taking notes.

If you plan to wear the petticoat over a corset, please bring the corset and the chemise that you wear under the corset.  You should also determine how high the shoes are that you will wear with the petticoat.

In Part 1 of the workshop, we will discuss some of the history of petticoats, the silhouette of a petticoat in the 1890 - 1910 period, which is why this particular petticoat pattern was chosen.  You will shown how to make the appropriate changes to the pattern so that it is custom fitted to each of you.  You should go home from Part 1 with a custom fitted petticoat pattern.  We will also discuss appropriate fabrics and optional trims.

Depending on the sewing experience of the attendees, Part 2 may include the layout and cutting of the pattern pieces, additional fitting and sewing of the petticoat.  The date of Part 2 is to be determined.

Because we need to gather the supplies, pre-registration for Part 1 of the workshop is required.
