Presents:

"Sunday
Social
with
S.A.S.S."

Sunday,
October 30, 2011

It was the Old West at the end of  the 19 century. The newspapers were full of stories about Wyatt Earp and his brothers.  It was the era of gun slingers, river boat gamblers, visitors to brothels and others, who would spit and polish their images in time for Sunday service and the subsequent “Social” that was likely to happen in the afternoon.
“Cowboy Shooting,” as a sport, is popular even today.  The Single Action Shooting Society SASS is a lively club of target shooters who dress in historical attire for their activities and events.

Specifically, they dress in attire of the period 1885-1899.
SITU will revisit that special era of the Old West (1885-99), when everyone came dressed their Sunday-Best for Church and the Social immediately following. We are looking forward to welcoming SASS members and friends to join us in an afternoon of fun, food, and dancing!
October means Autumn and we will be celebrating the change of season.  The appeal of meeting up with old friends, while making the acquaintanceship of new friends, will be a welcome introduction to the shorter, cooler days ahead.

We’ll gather for a delicious catered “smoker/chuck-wagon-type” hearty meal of four types of all-you-can-eat meats and four side dishes, as well.

After the meal, we'll kick up our heels to the live music presented by Band Leader
Phil Wilkinson and fellow musicians.  We'll even have a professional "caller" to lead us through the dance steps!
How to prepare for the upcoming festivities?

Ladies:  Get out your sewing patterns or start looking for finished garments which can be bustled or used as a walking skirt.

Remember to wear your favorite “Sunday Hat!”

Gentlemen: Here’s your excuse to buy a ready-made Frock Coat (you’ll get lots of usage from this garment!).

They may be purchased from various retailers, such as: www.GentlemansEmporium.com
  or www.TuxedoWholesaler.com .
