A Night With Valentino

February 18, 2012

Ladies swoon. Men are torn with jealousy. No one knows his true   story…but, all are tantalized by the  romance. Soon the tabloids will be filled with speculation about Rudolph Valentino.

Which lady captures his attention? What will happen next in his exotic life? We may find out  tonight!  Or not…but, we’ll attend this elegant soiree in our most glamorous evening wear. The night will sparkle with excitement!

It’s the late 1920’s.  A movie mogul has invited you to his Renaissance Revival mansion in the Hollywood Hills.

Tonight’s entertainment—a preview showing of
The Son of the Sheik, starring the most attractive, intoxicating movie star of the year, Rudolph Valentino. Master Musician Phil Wilkinson tinkles the piano keys, music welcoming you at the door.  Remove your furs and settle in for a luxurious evening with the other glitterati of Hollywood.  Gossip? Innuendo? Certainly!

We all want to be featured in the press the following day as being seen at the most select party of the year, darling.

Each of us will bring savory hors d’oeuvres to share; the host will provide the sweets and bev- erages. Prohibition is in effect, so those who bring their own wine or champagne can supplement what the host provides.  Plates and glassware are all provided.

The rumor about the movie is that Valentino plays a dual role as Ahmed, the hero, as well as Ahmed’s father, showing his amazing talent and the great skill of the movie makers. The plot:  Young Ahmed falls in love with Yasmin, a dancing girl, but he is captured and tortured by bandits.  Believing Yasmin to be responsible, Ahmed escapes and plans his own form of revenge; although true love, of course, finally prevails.

Maestro Wilkinson will also entertain with other songs from the era, especially if you have a favorite and bring the sheet music.

What persona will you choose for this exciting evening?

Are you an ingénue anxious to be discovered?

Are you a wealthy mogul looking for new talent?

Are you a film star looking for attention for your next film?

Are you a newshound looking for the next angle?

Join all the Nouveaux and the Old Guard in the roaring ‘20’s for a “Night with Valentino!”
