"Satins & Furs

For a Winter Night"

February 2, 2013

Fairmont Olympic Hotel, Georgian Room
&
Town Hall, Auditorium

It was the sparkle of a wintry night that delighted her.  He arrived in his most elegant coat and breeches.
She alighted from the doorstep to the carriage in
satin and fur.

It was going to be a night to remember!  She was in her gown, laced and be-jeweled, but chose to not powder her hair.  A little patch by her saucy mouth said merriment ahead.  He was not out done, with polished buckles on his shoes, an ebony cane and a look that was a bit devilish.  What a pair!  What a night!

February 2nd, Saturday, join your fellow revelers for a magical night of feasting, wit, dancing and music.

We’ll begin early, ‘though quite the traditional dinner time in the Georgian era. At 3:00, we will gather in the lobby of the grand Fairmont Olympic Manor House.  We’ll parade in to a delightful dinner in three courses:  a salad of watercress & fennel, an entrée of wild mushroom pave and balsamic chicken or a butternut squash risotto, rum raisin bread pudding with vanilla bean ice cream.  Coffee and tea.

For those who wish, wine will be available at an additional fee to the innkeeper.

No doubt you will enjoy the time to share tales and adventures with your tablemates.

As you relax and rejoice in the elegance of your surroundings, your reverie will be sparked by a performance.

Direct from European capitals, Madame Jamia Hansen-Murray, will perform a dance sure to elicit “bravas” from the party.

At 5:30 we will adjourn to the lobby to revive ourselves.
If the weather is not inclement, we may stroll the few blocks to Town Hall
where the remainder of our winter soiree will continue.
Or you may call your coachman to keep your heels dainty and carry you to the Hall.
There is space for your carriage to stand next to the Olympic and to Town Hall.

At the historic and fine Town Hall we have been invited to an evening of music and learning.
Due to our exceptional finery of dress, we are offered the concert and lecture at
half the price that others will be paying!

The glorious music of Bach cantatas will be performed by the Early Music Guild with a stellar group of soloists: soprano Clara Rottsolk, alto Jennifer Lane, tenor Rufus Muller, and baritone Jesse Blumberg.
