Love dressing up or making period costumes, but aren't too keen on the "building from scratch" routine?  Freelance Theatrical Costumer Alex Lewington admits to not being particularly skilled seamstress... however, she has developed ways to crack out some darned good costumes nevertheless!

This is your chance to learn from Alex's 30 years of costuming experience to enhance your success creating costumes for your own enjoyment.

Join us at Alex's charming Tacoma home.  We'll have a "cuppa" and learn a few new tricks from this talented theatrical costume designer.  In this workshop, Alex will share her professional techniques for creating costumes and some  accessories.  You will: -  Learn how to spot thrift shop finds that can be adapted into period dress;
-  See how thrift store finds can be merged with "built pieces" for a great result
-  Pick up hints & shortcuts that will surprise you and produce attractive results
  -  See and touch lots of costume examples
  -  Browse her huge costume collection
  -  Gain storage ideas and hints
  -  And, get to ask questions from someone who excels at improvising!

This will be an informational and very informative presentation.
Due to space limitations, workshop attendance will be limited to 15 persons.

Come enjoy an afternoon of tea, chat, and get some great ideas
from this delightful costumer!

Alex Lewington is a freelance theatrical
costume designer specializing in period costumes.  She has designed virtually every period, from Roman/Greek, to the mid-1950's (Agatha Christie "The Mousetrap"), although her favorite eras are Edwardian and 1930's.

Alex loves to use "old stuff" to add authenticity and visual interest to just-made items. In addition to costume clothing, she also makes stage jewelry and enjoys millinery.

Born and bred in Liverpool, England, Alex lived in Italy, New Zealand, and Australia before managing to get to the United States, which is where she REALLY wanted to live!  She has designed for the Tacoma Little Theatre, Centerstage,  Tacoma Actors Guild, Lakewood Playhouse, Tacoma Opera, and the Job Carr Cabin Museum.
