Roundgown SOLD OUT! *Some sewing

What, oh, what shall I wear to the ball??? “The Star Spangled Celebration”, that is… SITU’s 2015 Winter Event is a Regency-era celebration of the creation of one of our favorite patriotic tunes, “The Star Spangled Banner”. At the time of the War of 1812, Ladies would have worn Round Gowns such as the type that our instructor, Nora Fosberg Azevedo from Portland, will guide us to make. Less tailored than dresses from the mid-18th century, round gowns appeared in the very late 1700s and set the tone for a simpler, more free-flowing style of dress that was very comfortable to wear. |
|
Join us as we make our own custom dresses following Nora’s pattern. Bring your chemise and stays** so you can be fit to measure using the undergarments that will create a truly period look. If you choose to wear modern undergarments, that’s ok ,too – just bring them along so your dress will be made to fit accordingly!
You’ll leave this one day class with a
garment substantially ready to wear! |
