Class size is limited – register early, we expect to sell out!

Stays are the “corset” of the Regency period – the undergarment that props up the bosom and smoothes out the torso.

Join SITU as we invite Nora Fosberg Azevedo from Portland to instruct us in making a set of custom “transitional” stays to our own personal measurements!

We will draft our own pattern based on measurements we take in class, and then construct the stays out of our own choice of fashion fabric. This class requires two days of attendance so you can complete this project; some finishing hand sewing may be needed after class, but you will leave with a garment that is ready to wear!

This class is being offered in October so those registered for the Regency Round Gown Workshop in November will have stays as their foundation garment. We will not be teaching a class about chemises, however, you will need a chemise to go under the stays.  A chemise is a shift- or smock-like undergarment that is worn next to the skin to protect clothing from sweat and body oils. Stays are worn over a chemise and are adjusted to support a woman’s torso and fill out a garment’s neckline appropriately.

Join us for this informative and productive class, and create a personalized set of stays as the foundation for your Regency wardrobe!
